Still unsure? Email support@hypewarduk.com with your usual size and height and we will help you pick.

Delivery & Returns

UK delivery is £4.99, or free on orders of £99 and over. Worldwide delivery is £9.99, also free over £99.

Orders are dispatched within 2 business days. Standard delivery is estimated at 3 to 5 business days from dispatch, and tracking is emailed once your parcel is on its way.

Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn items with tags attached.

Wash & Care

Wash cold at 30 degrees, inside out, with similar colours. Skip bleach and fabric softener.

Air dry rather than tumble. Heat is what cracks prints and shrinks heavyweight cotton. Iron on the reverse only, never across a graphic.

Product Details

The Essentials 1977 Hoodie Black is the piece in this range that gets worn into the ground, and restraint is why. Black fleece, a tonal rubberised 1977 mark on the chest, and a small logo strip across the back. You register the shape of the hoodie before you register the graphic.

What the 1977 mark refers to

1977 is Jerry Lorenzo's birth year. He launched Essentials in 2018 as a lower-priced line running alongside Fear of God, built on the same boxy proportions. On black the print sits almost flat against the fleece, so it reads as texture rather than branding.

Fit and sizing

  • Boxy and oversized by design, not a scaled-up regular hoodie
  • Shoulder seam drops well past the natural shoulder line
  • Wide through the chest, short in the body, low ribbed hem
  • Long sleeves finishing in deep ribbed cuffs
  • Take your usual size for the intended fit, or one down for a closer cut
  • Available in S, M, L and XL

Wearing it

Black is the colourway that survives being your default. It layers under a bomber or puffer without bulk gathering at the shoulder. It sits as easily with washed denim as it does with plain joggers.

Looking after it

  • Cold wash at 30 degrees, inside out
  • Skip fabric softener, which flattens brushed fleece over time
  • Hang dry rather than tumble, because heat lifts a rubberised print
  • Fold for storage, since heavy fleece pulls out of shape on a hanger
