Where International comes from

Stussy built a network of chapters around the world in the late eighties, known as the International Stussy Tribe. Shop owners, DJs, designers and skaters in different cities, all connected under the same mark. The International pieces reference that structure directly. It is the closest streetwear has come to a genuinely global members club, and it happened before the internet made that easy.

Grey is the right ground for it

The International graphic carries text and detail, which needs contrast to be legible. Grey marl gives it that without the harshness of white. On black the design closes up and you lose half of what makes it interesting.

Wearing it

Grey marl works with almost anything, but this one earns a plain bottom half because the graphic is detailed. Black denim or black joggers, plain trainers, nothing else printed anywhere.

• Cold wash at 30 degrees, inside out, with greys
• Keep it out of loads with towels, as grey marl picks up lint quickly
• Hang dry rather than tumble, which protects both the print and the fit
• No fabric softener on brushed fleece
