The Trapstar Irongate Arch Chenille Tracksuit Black Sky Blue is the lighter of the two blue chenille sets. Black body, arched Irongate lettering in a pale sky blue chenille, top and bottoms together.

Sky blue or royal blue

Trapstar runs this set in two blues and they behave completely differently. This one uses a soft sky blue, so the lettering reads cool and washed against the black rather than jumping off it. The Special Edition version uses a deep royal blue with far more punch. Take this one if you want the set to sit quieter.

What chenille is, and why it costs more

Chenille is raised, fluffy embroidery rather than a print. Run a hand across the lettering and there is real depth to it. It is the detail Trapstar reserves for its better pieces, and it is the first thing worth checking on any Irongate Arch garment.

Wearing it

Pale blue on black wants neutral footwear. White or black trainers only. The top also splits off well over plain black bottoms, which is where most people get the extra wear.

Care, which matters on chenille

• Cold wash at 30 degrees, inside out, every time
• Never tumble dry, because heat flattens the chenille pile permanently
• Hang dry and let the pile lift back on its own
• No fabric softener, which mats raised lettering
• Iron the reverse only
