Headwear Is Where the Logo Works Hardest

Stussy came out of surf and skate culture, and both of those wear hats constantly. Sun, wind, salt water and long days outside made headwear functional before it was ever a branding exercise. That history is why the caps and beanies never feel like an afterthought bolted onto a clothing line.

There is a practical reason to start here too. The signature is a small mark, and on a cap or a beanie it sits at eye level where it reads clearly. On a hoodie it competes with the rest of the garment. If you want the brand recognised without spending outerwear money, headwear does the job better than anything else in the range.

Stock Cuff Beanie

The Stock Cuff is the beanie people mean when they search for a Stussy wooly hat. Ribbed acrylic knit with a folded cuff and the Stock logo embroidered at the front, it is one of the longest-running pieces the brand makes. The black version is the default and works with anything. The marl grey shows the embroidery with more contrast, which is worth knowing if you want the logo to read clearly. How you wear the cuff changes the look entirely: folded short it sits shallow on the crown, pulled down it covers the ears properly for winter.

Basic Stock Cap

The Basic Stock Cap is the standard six-panel in cotton twill, structured at the front so the crown stands rather than folding flat. Curved peak, embroidered Stock logo, adjustable strap at the back. This is the everyday Stussy baseball cap and the safest first buy in the category. The structure matters more than people expect: an unstructured cap sits differently on every head, where a structured six-panel holds a consistent shape.

Stock Low Pro Cap

Low Pro means low profile, and the difference is the crown height. The Stock Low Pro is cut shallower and left unstructured, so it sits close to the head rather than standing tall. Choose it over the Basic Stock if six-panels tend to look boxy on you, or if you prefer a cap that reads worn-in from day one. Same curved peak and adjustable strap, noticeably different silhouette.

Stock Trucker Cap

The Stock Trucker swaps the back panels for breathable mesh and the strap for a snapback closure. That makes it the warm-weather option, and considerably cooler to wear through summer than a full cotton cap. The mesh also lifts the front panel higher, so the logo sits more prominently than on either of the other two. If you want the loudest of the caps, this is it.

The bucket hat sits closest to the brand's surf origins and has stayed in the range for decades. The Big Logo Twill Bucket Hat runs a wider brim than most, which is what gives it the slouched shape rather than the stiff upturned look cheaper versions have. The logo is embroidered large across the front. Unlike the caps, this comes in two sizes rather than one, so check the guide below before ordering.

Getting the Size Right

Beanies are one size. The knit stretches comfortably across roughly 54cm to 60cm head circumference, and it relaxes slightly with wear, so a snug first fit is normal rather than a problem.

Caps are one size with an adjustable strap or snapback, covering most head sizes. The bucket hat is the exception: it comes in S/M and L/XL. Measure around your head just above the ears and take S/M up to about 57cm, L/XL above that. If you are between the two, size up, because a tight bucket hat sits badly.

Care

Knitwear and structured caps need opposite treatment. Beanies hand wash cold, press dry in a towel and lay flat, never hung wet, because the weight of the water pulls the knit out of shape permanently.

Caps and bucket hats should not go in a machine at all. Wipe the panels with a damp cloth and mild soap, then air dry away from direct heat. A washing machine warps a curved peak and distorts trucker mesh, and neither recovers. Store caps upright rather than crushed under other items.
