Product Details
The Stussy 8 Ball Hoodie Black puts the brand's most recognised graphic on heavyweight fleece. Black body, the eight ball across the chest, nothing else competing with it.
Why the 8 Ball outlasted everything else
Shawn Stussy started scrawling his signature onto surfboards in Laguna Beach around 1980, and by 1984 it had become a clothing label. The eight ball came out of the same pool-hall and skate visual language the brand grew up in. It has survived four decades of the catalogue changing around it, which almost nothing else in streetwear has managed.
On a hoodie rather than a tee
The 8 Ball has lived mostly on t-shirts. On heavyweight fleece it sits differently, because the fabric has enough weight to carry a large circular graphic without the print pulling the panel out of shape. This is the version that holds its form after a winter of wear.
Fit and sizing
- Relaxed 1990s cut, boxy through the chest
- Heavyweight cotton fleece with a brushed interior
- Ribbed cuffs and hem
- Runs generous, so take your usual size or one down for a closer fit
- Available in S, M, L and XL
Wearing it
The eight ball is a strong circular graphic, so keep everything below the waist plain. Straight or wide denim, black joggers, plain trainers. A second print anywhere makes the outfit busy and the graphic loses.
Care
- Cold wash at 30 degrees, inside out, with darks
- Hang dry rather than tumble, as Stussy cotton shrinks with heat
- No fabric softener, which flattens brushed fleece
- Iron the reverse only, never across the graphic
- Fold for storage rather than hanging heavy fleece long term
